If you want the best, Hercules stays true to the brand name, offering some of the most reliable and stable guitar wall hangers on the market. This is especially the case with the GSP39WB Plus hanger.

Again, you can’t go wrong with Hercules quality. I always love comparing them to Boss pedals — they’re built like tanks and are incredibly reliable. In fact, your precious instrument will be much safer on them compared to an average floor stand. It certainly lives up to the brand’s name.

Stability

Taking care of your acoustic guitar is extremely important, and a solid wall hanger is a great place to start. Taylor’s 70194 is a standard fork-style wall hanger with cushioned yokes.

Although this hanger is absolute eye candy, don’t underestimate its reliability and stability. It has a decently sized base with a beautiful, large wooden backplate.

Convenience

This wall hanger’s design is more focused on the looks. However, it’s still more than great in every aspect. While it may not be for every setting, due to its size and particular design, it’s still a great and convenient piece for acoustic guitars. Sure, it could take up a little less space, but it’s still great. This wall hanger is compatible with all types of acoustic guitars.

Quality

You can expect only top-notch quality with Taylor. The wooden backplate is designed to visually fit the looks of Taylor guitars, with matching West African Crelicam ebony. And it also features a stylish acrylic inlay. They call it “Taylor Nouveau Italian acrylic inlay.” You get the point — it’s classy.

Summary

Of course, Taylor is a brand known for their incredible acoustic guitars. And with this in mind, they’ve made this wall hanger to reflect on their legacy and to bring both functionality and looks into the same equation.

However, at over $50, it’s not exactly cheap. But you get premium quality and incredible, unique looks. Apart from being a great wall hanger for acoustic guitars, it’s also the perfect match for wooden walls or any room where its looks would fit.

ProsCons
Unique design.It’s a bit pricey.

Stability

Of course, a stand or a guitar wall hanger can be great without being overly expensive. What I love about CC11K by String Swing is its simplicity and reliability. To put it simply, it’s a guitar wall hanger. There are no frills and fillers but rather a simple piece that serves its purpose.

One note, though — get your own screws and anchors for this one.

Convenience

Apart from the price, convenience is also a critical factor here. String Swing’s CC11K has a pretty simple design, which is why it is so great. Look no further than this one if you need something simple with a yoke that holds your average guitar headstock.

Quality

While not the absolute top-notch quality, CC11K keeps things fairly decent and durable, especially considering its price range. While you won’t get some high-end features that could include different design variations, it’s well-conceived. Its soft padding is as good as any more expensive piece.

Summary

Of course, this is a budget-friendly option. However, considering the overall build quality and reliability, String Swing CC11K takes the trophy of the best budget guitar wall hanger out there. It’s simple, to the point, and serves its purpose well. Don’t expect many other traits apart from that. It’s not necessarily the greatest-looking piece, but it gets the job done.

ProsCons
It’s pretty cheap. The anchors and screws that come with it aren’t the best.
Decent quality, considering the price.

Best Multi Guitar Wall Hanger – String Swing SW5RL

String Swing SW5RL

Stability

The String Swing SW5RL may have some issues with stability when mounted on drywall. You can do it, but you’ll likely need another set of studs and screws. If you have brick walls or know how to use a stud finder, you will have no problems.

It’s also important to add that this is the case with any multi-guitar wall hanger, so it’s expected. This one has a large metal base in the form of a rail which, with proper screws and studs, can withstand a fair amount of weight.

Convenience

The SW5RL is extremely convenient if you have many guitars and want to save space. It’s around 48 inches long, so consider that and use it for bigger rooms.

Each of the five individual guitar hangers is attached to the rail on the base and each comes with an adjustable knee that lets you change individual guitar orientation. You can also adjust the distance between each guitar since all the hangers are placed on a rail.

On top of that, the yokes work well with any standard headstock shape, and the padding will keep even the most expensive and fragile guitars without any scratches.

Quality

Apart from the issue mentioned above with drywall, the String Swing SW5RL is a sturdy piece that can withstand up to 15 pounds per guitar hanger. The rail and the hangers are made from aluminum and feature additional coating. Your guitars will be safe if you keep it up to five and don’t add more weight.

Summary

While not designed to have any attractive visual traits, String Swing’s SW5RL is a safe and convenient multi-guitar hanger. In fact, its design will let your guitars be the centerpiece and show them off in the best light. But, above all, it can withstand more than your average hanger.

ProsCons
It is very adjustable and customizable due to the rail designIt may not be the best option for drywalls
Individual hangers come with more flexible featuresYou might want to consider getting better screws and studs
Safe and reliable

Best Horizontal Guitar Wall Hanger – String Swing CC151LP

String Swing CC151LP – Narrow Low Profile

Stability

Although you might be weirded out by its design, String Swing’s CC151LP has an incredibly sturdy base. When you look at it, this hanger could remind you of a balancing scale. But if you mount it properly, which shouldn’t be an issue, you get an incredibly stable guitar stand.

Convenience

While it may not be as convenient as a traditional wall hanger, horizontal guitar hangers are conceived in such a way to show off your precious instruments. And this one does it in the best way possible.

What I love about it is that you can adjust the angle with this “balancing scale” design. This aesthetic and practical feature allows you to position a guitar the way it works for you, anywhere from a horizontal position to a steeper display angle.

Quality

Like with other String Swing products, the quality is standard with CC151LP. We have an all-around awesome horizontal hanger covering visual and functional aspects. The entire construction is sturdy, foam paddings are durable, and you can safely keep your guitar on it.

Summary

There’s just something about horizontal guitar hangers that we love. Be it a sense of security when we see our guitars hanging like that or a design that shows off our guitars in the best possible light, String Swing’s CC151LP covers both aspects with its simple yet effective design.

While horizontal guitar wall hangers aren’t that common, this one is the best choice that you can get on the market. Just remember that it won’t be able to hold guitars thicker than 2.75 inches safely.

Summary

ProsCons
Adjustable design. Not usable for acoustic or hollow-body electric guitars with thicker bodies.
Very reliable and sturdy.
Will present your guitar in the best way while rationally using space.

Verdict

Although all of these are incredible wall hangers in their own way, the GSP39WB Plus by Hercules deserves the top spot. The main reason for this is its reliability and stability. But apart from that, it keeps things simple and can work with any guitar headstock shape due to the Auto Grip feature.

I’d be careful about multi-guitar hangers, although the mentioned SW5RL by String Swing is great in its own way. It’s a practical way to keep your instruments, but it may not work for everyone.

Runner-Ups That Just Missed The Top 5

Buyer’s Guide

How to Choose the Right Guitar Wall Hanger for You

Finding a way to properly store your guitar is super important, and a wall hanger is one of the most essential guitar accessories you can invest in! Before getting a wall hanger, here are some things to remember.

Guitar Compatibility

Most headstocks and wall hangers can work together. However, if your instrument has an unconventional headstock design, especially if it’s thinner than usual, you’ll need to consider getting a more advanced hanger. For headless guitars, you can use horizontal stands. At the same time, horizontal wall stands aren’t the best for acoustic or hollow-body electric guitars.

Durable and Sturdy Materials

You want a durable and safe way to store your guitar. Almost all guitar wall hangers come with metal bases. You should be safe with all of them, but keep an eye on the welding work and read some of the negative reviews, if there are any, that might indicate unreliable options.

Neck Protection

There’s always some sort of foam-based padding on the yokes of guitar hangers. Just ensure that it’s not low-quality padding that wears quickly over time.

Mounting System

Most guitar wall hangers have backplates with two to four holes to mount. More variety comes with multi-guitar hangers that have alternative designs.

Locking Mechanism or Open Grip Design

Both locking mechanisms and open-grip designs are viable options. Locking mechanisms could be safer and more reliable, particularly if you have a guitar with an unconventional headstock design.

How to Easily Install a Guitar Wall Mount

What You’ll Need

  • Tape measure or a ruler.
  • Stud finder/wall scanner.
  • An electric drill.
  • A pencil or a marker.
  • Screwdriver (Phillips-head).
  • Mounting hardware (usually included with the guitar wall hanger).

Process

  • Plan and measure.
  • Find a stud.
  • Drill holes.
  • Place anchors.
  • Finish it off.

Step One: Plan and Measure

First, you must determine where you want to place your guitar. Once you have a general idea, measure the area where you want your guitar to be on the wall and check if it doesn’t obstruct any other objects there. After that, you can determine where the hanger will attach to the wall.

Step Two: Find a Stud

You need to find a stud to anchor your guitar hanger. However, this is tricky — you should use the stud finder to determine whether the spot is safe to drill in. You don’t want to drill into your drywall or concrete wall and hit electrical wiring.

Step Three: Drill Holes

Once you’re 100% sure you’ve found a wire-free spot, mark the drilling spots. These should match the holes on the wall hangers. Hold your hanger against the wall and use a pencil or a marker to mark the wall through the holes.

You’ll need to drill the hole with an appropriately sized drill that perfectly matches the anchors for the hole. You’ll also need an appropriate drill bit for your wall, whether concrete or drywall. Before drilling, make sure that you check any installation manuals that came with your wall hanger to match the drill bit size with the screws.

Step Four: Place Anchors

Once you’re done, check if the screws fit the holes. Everything should fit nicely if you’ve used appropriately sized drill bits. Then place the anchors into the wall and screw the wall hanger in.

Again, the anchors are the first ones to go into the wall. Put the wall hanger over the anchors, and proceed to carefully screw it in using a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Step Five: Finish it Off

The rest of the process depends on the hanger you’ve bought. But no matter which one you got, the yokes and components of the hanger shouldn’t be too tight or loose.

How to Hang a Guitar on the Wall

FAQs

Are Guitar Wall Hangers Bad for Your Guitar?

You shouldn’t be worried about hanging a guitar on your wall using standard wall hangers. Wall hangers are not bad for your guitar and are as safe as any stand. Of course, they cannot be entirely unaffected. But in the worst-case scenario, it’s not anything you cannot adjust with the instrument’s truss rod.

Should You Get a Guitar Stand or a Guitar Wall Hanger?

The choice is entirely up to you. Most players are used to conventional guitar stands. But wall hangers can work well if you want to save space.

What Is the Best Way to Hang a Guitar on the Wall?

Using a standardized guitar wall hanger is the best way to hang your guitar on a wall. There are a few basic variants of hangers, and they’re usually all reliable and safe.

Are Guitar Wall Hangers Suitable for Any Type of Guitar?

Guitar wall hangers are designed with conventional guitar designs in mind. No matter what type of electric guitar you have, almost all wall hangers on the market will work for your instrument.

How Much Weight Can a Guitar Wall Hanger Support?

An average wall guitar hanger can withstand any standard acoustic or electric guitar. Limits are, in most cases, around 15 pounds.

Do Guitar Wall Hangers Need a Stud Mount?

Stud mounts are mandatory for all guitar wall hangers. They come with any standard guitar wall hanger.

Can Drywall Anchors Hold Guitars?

In almost all cases, drywall anchors can hold guitars. The only question here is the quality of the drywall itself.

Are Guitar Wall Hangers Better Than Guitar Stands?

Both options are great ways to keep your guitars. Wall hangers remove the risk of knocking over and give your space a different look.

Should You Hang Guitars on Exterior Walls?

Hanging guitars on exterior walls is strongly not recommended. Outside elements and daily temperature oscillation can seriously damage your instruments.

Conclusion

The great thing is that there are so many incredible guitar wall hangers that just work. And if you’re not used to them and feel odd about letting your guitar hang from a wall, don’t worry. These days, almost all of them are made with stability and sturdiness in mind. You should be careful when choosing a multi-guitar wall hanger since it might require additional support and may not always be the best option for drywalls.

I didn’t get into hanging my guitars until about 5 years ago. Now they all hang if they are in rotation. I have identified the best places for heat, light and humidity in my home and have them there. The only guitar on a stand is my PRS SE Paul’s as that sites next to my desk for moments when I need a break.
