38 Guitar Amps With Effects – For Acoustic & Electric

Who doesn’t want to search for “the tone”…you know, that sweet mix of different effects, the perfect mix of reverb and chorus, etc. But before continuing I just have to say that with separate pedals, that can get really expensive really fast…

This is exactly when guitar amps with built-in effects step in. Not everyone has the cash or even desire to fill their jam-house with a pedal board and extra pedals just because you can’t ever have enough. Some people just want a versatile, great-sounding, and simple-to-use amp that offers a nice variety of built-in effects.

Personally, I have been using guitar amps with effects since 2015. They can for sure make a bedroom guitarist happy. And this is why I was pumped to pick the best guitar amps with effects, many of which I have had the pleasure to play myself, from hundreds of different amplifiers…just for you! If you have any questions, check the FAQ section or leave a comment.

Let’s get started!

I first grabbed the guitar in 2009. I started this website in January 2020 because I couldn’t do window installation anymore due to my health problems. I also noticed that most guitar websites don’t do a really good job, so I decided to just go for it! I got lucky and managed to get awesome people to help me with my website. I also got lucky because I have you visiting my website right now. Thank you. I do all this for you guys. If you have any recommendations, tips, or feedback, just leave a comment, I would love to chat with you. I have been fortunate to produce content for several large guitar websites, such as Songsterr, Musicnotes, GuitarGuitar, and Ultimate Guitar. I spend my spare time exercising and hanging out with my wife and crazy dog(I guess that went the right way…).

38 Guitar Amps With Effects

If in search of an acoustic guitar amplifier with a nice repertoire of effects, Fender Acoustic Junior is one of the options available. It’s a powerful (100W) amp with 2 channels that make it suitable for vocalists and acoustic guitar players alike.

I left guitar amplifiers with only Reverb or Delay out from this list (for example Orange Crush 20RT). We want to see guitar amps with several effects, not just amps with “effect”.

3 Best Guitar Amps With Effects – My Favorites

Best Budget – Fender Mustang LT25

displays Fender Mustang LT25

What I like

  • Super-versatile
  • Still simple to use
  • Great price:value ratio
  • Sounds great
  • Almost endless tone possibilities with Fender Tone-app
  • Especially clean and rock tones are great
  • Offers enough loudness for sure

What I don’t like

  • No “middle” knob on the control panel
  • Accessing “reverb” and “delay” would be easier with control-knobs
  • The handle is more or less useless

Who is it for?

If you are after an extremely versatile budget electric guitar amp with solid all-around tones and a price tag under $200, Fender Mustang LT25 is worth a closer look. It’s easy to use, it has the fun-to-play-with Fener Tone app available, and the value: price ratio is outstanding.

Best Overall – BOSS Katana 50 Mkii

image displays Boss Katana 50 Mkii

What I like

  • Versatile as amp comes (especially with the app)
  • Excellent amp for metal tones
  • Easy to use
  • Switchable wattage makes this BOSS a great bedroom amp (loudness-wise)
  • 5 great sounding ready presets
  • Loud, rich, and room-filling open-back sound

What I don’t like

  • The BOSS app is not the simplest to use
  • Not the most attractive amp look-wise
  • Different amp modelers would be awesome

Who is it for?

BOSS Katana MKii is the best guitar amp under $500 to me. As matter of fact, I’m writing this next to my own beloved Katana 50 Mkii…I will continue jamming after finishing this article for you. If in search of simple usability, excellent all-around tones, full sound, and tons of available effects in the app, BOSS Katana 50 Mkii is my go-to amp.

Best Premium – Blackstar Silverline Special 1×12″

What I like

  • User-friendly interface makes changing tones simple
  • Various tube emulations to choose from
  • Preset modeled tones give you easy versatility
  • Powerful 1×12 Celestion V speaker
  • Sounds spectacular
  • Blackstar INSIDER app adds a lot of effects, etc. to the table

What I don’t like

  • Some tube effects lack warmth
  • Can’t compete with real tube amps in terms of response; not that articulate

Who is it for?

If you are after one of the best available modeled tube sounds, a nice variety of different tones & effects, and still want to stay close to the $500 price mark, Blackstar Silverline is a top-notch choice. It got a great app available, there’s not a single bad sound onboard, and it’s lots of fun to play with a wide range of effects.

Blackstart Silverline Special was chosen as the Best 4-Channel Guitar Amp in 2022.

Are Guitar Amps With Built-In Effects Worth it?

If you value having tons of effects right at your fingertips and have no desire to buy almost any pedals, I would say that guitar amps with built-in effects are definitely worth it. Nowadays, guitar amps have so many great-sounding built-in effects available that if you are not a pedal-lover, you are not missing out much. I have used guitar amps with effects since 2015, and they have 110% been worth it for me.

But let’s have look at the pros and cons so that you will get the full picture of this “amplified” situation…

Cons
