Best Guitar Amp With A Mic Input for Acoustic & Electric – Roland Cube Street EX

What I like

Guitar Amplifier Microphone Input-Types

2 kinds of input types are the most common(check the image above).

• XLR cable input (female)
• 1/4″ sized TRS cable input (female)

But, it’s really common to see female XLR cable inputs that also fit 1/4″ sized TRS cable on them used on guitar amplifiers. Have a look below:

These types of cable inputs are also called “XLR & TRS cable input combos”. This kind of input is of course the most versatile since it can fit 2 different kinds of cables.

Can I Plug A Mic Into Guitar Amp?

You can plug passive microphones directly into the instrument cable jack of a guitar amp, but usually you need an XLR female to TRS male cable or adaptor for connecting(depends on what kind of cable your microphone has of course).

Active microphones require a power unit (phantom power) for providing the microphone signal the extra power it needs. With active microphones, XLR to TRS cables or adaptors are usually also needed.

You should note that guitar amps that don’t have a separate mic input, are designed to only work well with guitars. So the sound you get from these when plugging the microphone into the cable input might not be ideal. And of course, if your guitar amp only has one cable input, you can either just run vocals or your guitar playing through it separately.

Can You Plug Microphone Into A Guitar Amp Aux?

Auxiliary input is meant for already amplified signals like the ones coming from smartphones, tablets, or computers. This is why they are not compatible with microphones.

Can A Guitar Amp Be Used For Vocals?

Guitar amplifiers can be used for vocals. As matter of fact, almost any guitar amplifier can, if you have the right kind of cable that fits both the microphone and guitar amp.
